Kitchen Remodeling in Murphy, TX
Murphy built out from the late 1990s through about 2015 and is essentially finished — there is very little new construction inside the city limits. That gives the kitchens here a fairly narrow age range, and a predictable set of problems: finishes chosen twenty years ago in houses that were framed well and are not going anywhere.
The other thing worth knowing about Murphy: HOA presence is lighter here than in the newer Collin County suburbs. That matters less for a kitchen than for a patio cover, but it does mean fewer approvals standing between you and a start date.
Why homeowners in Murphy hire us
We price the two honest paths
Late-90s and 2000s Murphy cabinetry is usually solid plywood-box work. If yours is, spray refinishing plus new quartz, hardware and lighting gets you a new room for far less. If the boxes are particleboard or in the wrong place, we say replace and explain why.
Two-story plans opened carefully
Murphy is overwhelmingly traditional two-story brick, which means the wall between the kitchen and the family room is sometimes carrying load from above. We identify that before anyone gets excited about an island, and we price the beam honestly when it is needed.
Electrical brought up to how you cook now
A 1999 countertop was wired for a toaster. We add dedicated circuits, GFCI protection, under-cabinet lighting and recessed cans so the room finally has enough light and enough power.
Owner on site, paid by stage
Tom runs the crew through the whole job. Payments follow completed work — demo, rough-in, cabinetry, finish — never up front.

A city that finished building
Murphy went from a small crossroads to a fully built-out suburb in about fifteen years, from the late 1990s through the mid-2010s, and then stopped — there is almost no vacant residential land left inside the city. The result is a housing stock that is fairly uniform in type: traditional two-story brick homes, most of them ten to twenty-five years old, on lots that run noticeably larger than comparable homes in Plano or Richardson. In the kitchen that translates to good square footage and a plan that is usually half-open already — a breakfast area, a peninsula or a small island, and a wall or a wide cased opening to the family room. The dated parts are the finishes and the lighting, and occasionally a soffit that drops the uppers. Because there is no new inventory in Murphy, people who like the neighborhood tend to renovate rather than move, which is exactly the situation where doing the work properly the first time pays off. Permits go through the City of Murphy; formal architectural review applies in only a handful of subdivisions.
