Patio Covers & Pergolas in Irving, TX
Irving yards are not all the same size, and that changes the design more than anything else. Valley Ranch patio homes and townhomes often have a courtyard or a shallow rear yard where a modest attached cover does more for the house than a freestanding pergola ever would. Newer homes on the north and east sides have the depth for a full outdoor room.
We design to the yard you have, then build it to stand up to North Texas — drilled piers below the clay, real structural connections, and a roof detailed so water leaves the way it should.
Why homeowners in Irving hire us
Small yards taken seriously
On a Valley Ranch patio home the win is usually a clean attached cover that shades the back of the house and keeps the sliding door usable in August — not the biggest structure that will legally fit. We will say so.
Piers sized for Dallas County clay
The same expansive clay that moves foundations here moves posts. We drill piers to depth and set anchors properly, because a cover that shifts two inches in its first dry summer takes the roofline with it.
Permitting handled under City of Irving
Covered structures over about 200 square feet generally need a permit, and attached structures generally need one at any size. Irving reviews under Dallas County — a different office from our Collin County work, and one we file with regularly.
HOA drawings where the association wants them
Valley Ranch and La Villita associations review exterior work. We produce the elevations, materials list and site plan the committee asks for so approval does not stall the schedule.

Courtyards, canals and the newer east side
Valley Ranch was laid out around a canal and trail system, with single-family homes, patio homes and townhomes built from the 1980s into the early 2000s. That mix produces a lot of small, enclosed rear yards and courtyards where the useful project is an attached cover, a fan and good lighting rather than a sprawling structure. Zero-lot-line and shared-wall homes also mean the attachment detail and the drainage path matter to more than one household, so we flash into the existing roof properly and put the water where it belongs. Las Colinas has more variation in lot size and more mature landscaping to work around. On the newer builds toward the north and east edges of Irving, the yards are deeper and the projects look like our Plano work — full covered outdoor rooms with finished ceilings, fans and guttering. Every one of them is engineered from the soil up, because Irving clay does not forgive a shallow footing.
